Rob Manga
Rob Manga was born and raised in Groningen, Netherlands. His parents are of Moluccan descent and raised Rob in Groningen although later Rob Manga would relocate to Amsterdam.
Influenced by genres like Soul, Disco, Pop, Rock, Rob Manga found his passion for soulful tunes at an early age. Carefully selecting classic as well as unique tracks and paying close attention to high quality sound, he developed an outstanding taste for music. It was only clear that Rob’s passion would later turn into profession. Spinning anything from Vocal Deephouse to Hip-Hop, from Classics to New Hits, from Soulmusic to Pop as long as it stays “warm, sexy and soulful”.
In 1992 he was invited to Amsterdam's first and later most successful HipHop/R&B-Party called “Bassline” which started in Amsterdam’s legendary venue “The Soul Kitchen” later to “De Melkweg”, later moved to “The Roxy” and eventually found home at the “Paradiso”. However, the ultimate commercial success of “Bassline” caused Manga to stop DJing there in 1999. He stayed true to his influences DJ Spinna, Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford and those who inspired him like Stevie Wonder, Raphael Saadiq, James Brown, The Jackson 5 and the late Jay Dilla. Manga represents those artists in every set he plays.
Rob Manga’s musical up-to-date-diversity is the reason why he is a popular DJ all over the Netherlands spinning at all kinds of parties and festivals. Currently running regular gigs at the biggest, most important clubs like “Legends” at Paradiso, “The Daisy Age” at Bitterzoet and “I Love Vinyl” at Canvas.
